Whale watching is one of the most rapidly growing activities all over the world. Puerto Pirámides, Patagonia Argentina, is one of the best places to watch Southern right whales (Eubalaena australis), more than 120000 tourists come to the area every year to watch whales. The aim of this project is to quantify whale watching real impact by measuring of whales’ 3d movements (speed, pitch and roll) which will be obtained directly from whales using a DTAG. The information could be useful for the management of the activity in the area because allows knowing whales’ response to whale watching boats, and hence, could contribute to mitigate possible negative effects of whale watching.
